Rustic Maple Side Table

This rustic, live-edge side table is a celebration of local craftsmanship and natural history. Handcrafted from bookmatched maple slabs, I personally sourced and milled the wood from a salvaged urban tree in my neighborhood. The tabletop prominently features rich spalting—the striking, dark patterns created by natural fungi—giving the piece a unique, painterly character. Finished with a hand-rubbed satin hard wax oil for a soft, modern glow, it stands on minimalist hairpin legs, while the ends retain the raw, authentic texture of the original log.
